The Eye

I left her body in the alley and tossed the knife in a sewer drain.

The cold wind blew around me as I stumbled toward my car.

I heard a faint whisper and felt something land on my shoe.

I looked down to see an eye, looking up at me, its pupil dilating and contracting, as if it was trying to make eye contact.

My heart raced and my stomach twisted in knots.

I ran for my car, jumped in, and locked the door.

I drove away, never looking back, never wanting to know what that eye wanted from me.

Nice piece of microfiction! I love how you catch the odd humanity of the killer.
